Praying namaz (Salat) is one of the five pillars of Islam and is an essential act of worship for Muslims. It is a way to connect with Allah and seek His guidance and blessings. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to perform the five daily prayers (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha)
Step 1: Make Wudu (Ablution)
Before starting the prayer, perform the ablution to purify yourself. Here's how to do it:
a. Begin by saying "Bismillah" (In the name of Allah).
b. Wash your hands three times.
c. Rinse your mouth three times.
d. Clean your nose three times.
e. Wash your face three times, from the hairline to the chin and ear to ear.
f. Wash your right arm up to the elbow three times, then repeat with your left arm.
g. Wipe your head with wet hands (passing them over your head once).
h. Wipe your ears with your index fingers and thumbs.
Step 2: Turn toward the Qibla (Kaaba direction).
Face the Qibla, which is the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca, and take a position that is clean and polite.
Step 3: Make the Intention (Niyyah)
In your heart, intend to perform the specific prayer (Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, or Isha) and any additional units (Rak'ahs) you wish to pray.
Step 4: Raise Your Hands and Say Takbir
Raise your hands to your ears and say "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is the Greatest) while starting the namaz.
Step 5: Recite the Opening Supplication
Begin by reciting the opening supplication:
(Glory be to You, O Allah, and all praise. Blessed is Your name and exalted is Your Majesty. There is no god but You).
Step 6:Recite Surah Al-Fatihah
In every Rak'ah, recite Surah Al-Fatihah, the opening verse of the Quran.
Step 7: Recite Additional Verses (Optional)
After Surah Al-Fatihah, you can recite any other verses or chapters from the Quran. For example, in the first two Rak'ahs of the Fajr and the first two Rak'ahs of the Maghrib prayer, it's common to recite a longer portion of the Quran (Learn more about Quran)
Step 8: Perform Ruku (Bowing)
After the recitations, bow down in Ruku while saying
"Subhana Rabbiyal Adheem" (Glory is to my Allah, the Almighty) three times.
Step 9: Stand Up Straight
Stand up straight after the Ruku, saying "Sami'a Allahu liman hamidah" (Allah hears those who praise Him).
Step 10: Perform Sujud (Prostration)
Go into prostration while saying "Allahu Akbar" and place your forehead, nose, palms, knees, and toes on the ground. While in Sujud, say "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" (Glory is to my Lord, the Most High) three times.
Step 11: Sit Between Prostrations
Sit briefly after the first Sujud, saying "Allahu Akbar." This sitting position is called Jalsa.
Step 12: Perform the Second Sujud
Go into the second prostration again, saying "Allahu Akbar," and repeat the supplication "Subhana Rabbiyal A'la" three times.
Step 13: Complete the Rak'ah
Stand up and begin the second Rak'ah, repeating steps 6 to 12.
Step 14: Tashahhud
After completing the second Rak'ah of all prayers except Fajr, sit for the Tashahhud. Place your right hand on your right thigh and your left hand on your left thigh, and say:
After completing Tashahhud recite Drood Ibrahimi :
After completing Drood Ibrahimi recite Dua:
15th step: finish the prayer
After saying "Assalamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah" (Peace and kindness of Allah be upon you) and turning your face to the right to conclude the prayer,
and turn to the left and say it again. "Assalamu 'alaikum wa rahmatullah"
This completes one unit (Rak'ah) of the prayer. For each prayer, the number of Rak'ahs is different:
Fajr: 2 Rak'ahs
Dhuhr: 4 Rak'ahs
Asr: 4 Rak'ahs
Maghrib: 3 Rak'ahs
Isha: 4 Rak'ahs
